Biography

 

 

Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, Matthew moved to Maryland to study acting at Towson University. While at Towson, Matthew served as a Coordinator of the Towson Theatre Lab, Coordinator of the Towson Contact Improv Group, and as a producer of Towson's bi-annual 24-Hour Play Slam, for which he also wrote four plays.  He starred in a number of mainstage and student productions including playing the title role in Macbeth, which won the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival's national award for Distinguished Classical Play. His mainstage acting work also earned him three nominations for KCACTF's Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship.

 

While at Towson, Matthew directed the ten minute-play Playwriting 101: The Rooftop Lesson by Rich Orloff  as well as Harold Pinter's Old Times. In 2011 Matthew  presented the Rasaboxes training technique at the "Making Tomorrow's Theatre" conference at the Grotowski Institute in Wroclaw, Poland, where he also participated in workshops with many different drama schools including the Lecoq School of Paris.

 

Since 2012, Matthew has worked with many different theatre companies in Baltimore and Washington DC. In 2015 Matthew became an Associate Company Member of Single Carrot Theatre shortly after appearing in their world premiere of Jen Silverman's Phoebe in Winter. In 2016, Single Carrot made him a full Ensemble Member.
